 Covered in the clouds of star particles that surround this system, there are but three planets surrounding a single small sun. The three worlds, due to their orbit around that sun, have widely varied surface climates. The largest, a world of desert and sand with little else. The middle planet is almost entirely tropical, with just three continents, mountain ranges and large rivers on each continent and thousands of islands. The last world, the smallest and furthest from the sun, is ice and snow covering the entire world. It is the middle world that is of interest, designated on the Ancient map as X34a and that is the world that exploration will take place; the world most likely Todd and Rhiase were last seen.

Three months had now passed since Todd and Rhiase had been captured, three horrible, painful months since the bait had been set with a false meeting set up near this world, for what was supposed to have been a meeting between Todd and another Wraith Hive wishing to join his alliance. It was of course a fake, a nice little trap to lure him in.

During the battle that took place, not long after Todd and Rhiase had landed in the shuttle, he ordered Bonewhite and Sin to leave, escape a losing fight. He told him that the two of them would survive and that’d he’d find a way back; soon after that their little ship was destroyed, and the trap sprung. With no way of escape, surrounded by at least twenty Hybrid fighters, as much as both wanted to fight their way out of it; Todd knew they were wanted alive and so long as he drew breath, he’d always managed to elude danger; most of the time. While he had been captured by an enemy more than once before this; some force appeared to be watching over him, sending someone, or something to aid his escape. Most recently Sheppard, that seemed an age ago in his mind.

Water dripped annoyingly from somewhere in the labyrinth of cells buried deep underground. Moans from the tortured and dying, both human, Wraith and other species, were heard around the clock. So much so Todd had summoned up some kind of wall in his mind to block it out; Rhiase simply had shut down some time ago. A day after their capture, she was separated from him, tortured, abused in the most horrendous ways, experimented upon, beaten, and interrogated endlessly. She never gave in, and while they kept both her and Todd alive, in Rhiase’s case, it was only just. Unlike the full Wraith, she still needed protein, that was meagre at best. Her head now lay upon Todd’s lap, she was naked, covered with a filthy blanket, while he sat with his arms chained to the wall. Or so their captors thought.

Two months into their captivity, Todd and Rhiase found through their normal means of communication, they were not alone. Soon after, they met some of the other prisoners as they were forced into labour, digging for exotic minerals in the most atrocious conditions imaginable, where even Wraith could be broken. It was here Todd came close to a fellow Hive leader, who passed onto him without a word, a metal nail. A simple thing, yet a very valuable object.

As he pressed to the wall, he caressed Rhiase’s hair, he knew they were coming for them, but he dared mot call to Bonewhite, not yet. Soon, very soon. “Eat.” He said in a low voice to his Battle Commander’s daughter. “You must eat.” Pushing a bent tin plate nearer, it contained a stew made from the local rodent, a something that resembled a rat who had one of their parents from the rabbit family.

 ~Leave me be~ The woman laying upon his lap said, if aloud would have been a deep groan. ~We are lost, I will give into death this day~ From the words in her head, she was resigned to whatever fate fell on them and for Rhiase, she could only see death. Father taught her eons ago, that when it comes, to embrace it. So without succour that she could see, what else was there to hope for.

 “Knowing McKay as I do Kenny, most likely pain  could be a factor.” A wry look directed at the good Doctor said everything. That the case in point was probably the very opposite. “Excuse me for a moment.” That was essentially addressed to everyone there, Jordan ducked away to the pilot’s ready room a few metres away from where they all gathered. In less than three minutes she was back.

“Listen up all of you.” She began. “We have been graciously allowed to use this ship as expected. And as you can all see she is quite new, so new in fact, other than makers trials and the trip to join the Apollo, this will be her first real action. Word from the CAG, don’t scratch her and he implored me to tell you all, he doesn’t want to see any spilled coffee when we get back. Other than that, he told me for us all to enjoy the flight.” With those last words she turned to the air stairs, then stopped, facing her XO.

  All Jordan did was nod at him. Nothing more was required. “I think it’s beyond time you justified those gold wings on your chest Agathon. You’ll be in the pilot’s seat for this flight. Rook..” She called her newest addition to the team. “…you’ll be in the gunner’s seat, behind Agathon.”  That left one more crew position. “Mike would you mind sitting in the TO’s seat (Radar, coms, sensors) behind the pilot.”

 There was so much to get done, even for a simple thing as a flight in a 402. She didn’t miss much either as she turned her head back to Jon. “The answer is yes, welcome to the team. You have a name I presume?” The dark-haired women heaved a deep sigh. Four places filled up front, there were two observers’ seats in the rear end of the cockpit. “Rodney, I suppose you should be up front, that leaves one more vacant seat.” Her eyes met with Kenny’s, what was it about him she thought. “Last seat is yours, the rest of you in back with the trucks." Even with two vehicles on board, that still left ample room.

 The small woman had seen enough prejudice in her life, going back as far as school and even her early start in the Army where the term ‘gook’ was often bandied about purposefully within her hearing. That she found herself out here in another galaxy among aliens, just proved to her that humans will never change. “I think somehow I might have been destined for something else in life.” She told Kenny and Sin quietly, not to disturb Captain O’Neil’s oratory. The words just tumbled from her mouth really, it wasn’t what she meant to say. “I owe a debt, this is my way of repaying that debt sir and besides, I really don’t mind.” The she lowered her voice to a whisper. “That will take a while.”

JP was old-school, and no matter the circumstance, he knew his worth; which was usually in the thick of crap-happenin’... But he knew what rank was, and whether he respected the man, or woman, or alien, he respected the rank. He was aware of his station, til there was no reason for rank, he knew it. Snapping to attention, he maintained his expressionless face... “Sir, Aye sir. Well met Captain... Hu rah, 10 mikes.” Then he dropped his salute as the man turned and keyed his mikeswitch.

Ten minutes... a lifetime in some circumstances... sheer boredom in others... and the elevator seemed to take longer than usual, but the swish of it opening revealed a waiting AC-402... that big fat upgrade of the venerable AC-401... JP looked at his grunts, then to the craft and could only smirk. And as he took his first step, followed by the three young marines toward that fat, ugly, piece of....

“Rook. So, who do we have here?”

A familiar voice caught his ear... and he changed course with a snap of his hips... followed close behind. and as he neared her, he smiled, then snapped to attention and saluted... “Ma’am, my entourage... if I am going in that fat, ugly, *vehicle*... I will need someone to hold my barf sack, as we are vibrated to the bones on entry to the atmos... if it is, as it seems.”  The he stepped sideways revealing the three young grunts. “Corporals Adaire and Simmons... and this is Sergeant Mariah Ortez... and she I must say is a kickass... much like someone else I know... Ma’am.”

And as usual, words were limited... comparatively... and he humft when the Cap’n touch the... *thing*.  But he knew that woman held some instinctive acumen in those fingertips. Had it been happenstance or tradition? He’d never ask, and surely, she’d never tell.

“Ortez... get the children saddled up... if this beast rattles up on drop, it will shake them silly.” And she followed his instructions with the affirmative, and they moved inside. Then he followed taking a seat next to the *children* with Ortez on his right, where she belonged. 

As they settled in, JP, along with his entourage secured their harnesses and their weapons for the expected rattle to the planet.  Then with a nudge, JP handed her a cylinder, covered mostly by his big hand, he smirked... she took it and shoved it into her vest. “Don’t lose it... Just in case we need something Heavy.” And she just smirked and nodded. Damn these two; like warfare’s father and daughter.

Captain Jon Hope Agathon - AR3 XO/Pilot


Jon saluted and nodded at Jordan, "Aye, mam." He watched as Rook and the rest of the team piled up. It would be his honor to fly as a pilot for the mission. He replied nudging his friend, "Corbin Washburn. He's a bit shy, doesn't talk much but can hotwire anything in a split second. Also handy with  shotgun. He's happy to be aboard."

Corbin grumbled softly and nodded at Jordan before boarding the ship. His personality could be similar to Rodney at times, but when he gets into it, he can be pretty handy anywhere.

Meanwhile, Jon took his place at the pilot seat and started the waking up procedures.

McKay looked over at the captain and he put his finger up, then thought better of it and quickly put it down,  so, he turned to enter the ship and followed Kenny up the ramp, as they approached the seats he nodded to him.

"I think I should get in first, you may be a bit cramped you know, cause your tall and.... and .... big..... "His voice trailed off as he felt a little self conscious of how daft he sounded

He smiled just a little, and seated himself first as he went passed  Kenny.

“Do you really want death so badly child?” His voice was a harsh whisper. Knowing the hybrids could ‘hear’ everything they said in the normal Wraith manner, Todd had taken to speak only in the human way, as much as it galled him. “You will survive, as will I. Now, do I have to force feed you, hmm?”

For the last month, both he and other prisoners who had somehow managed to survive this living hell, took to fashioning weapons and keys from any piece of metal they could find. Those items had to be well hidden, the guards searched their cells every night before the dim lights were turned off. Todd had made a key for his cuffs from a nail, another key for the door from what might have been some kitchen utensil and a decent blade from another discarded metal object. It was a long and arduous task; it made him feel like some primitive labourer; the end result was more than worth it. Even the various stones he’d used to file the shapes of his tools, had to be hidden. Tonight, at the sound of the Karken owl, one hundred and fourteen prisoners would be breaking out.

Ty considered Chris' words.  It was true.  Lou didn't seem scared at all.  He slowly shook his head.  "Wonder if it has anything to do with them helping her," he whispered back.  He knew Lou wouldn't still be alive without the Wraiths help.  Which he was grateful for.  He was really going to have to find a time to talk to her.  When this was all over.

Bonewhite blinked but gave a short, bemused grin as McKay squeezed past him. He never knew what this man was up to next, or what to make of his rapid talking. But the man was right, it was a bit cramped after all.

He took his assigned seat and tried to make himself comfortable while the other members of the team also took their seats and got ready for the trip. Now they were truly taking action at last. Bonewhite appreciated it from the bottom of his heart. Too much time had passed and every day the worry grew whether Guide and Rhiase would survive – wherever they were.

Mckay shuffled about in his seat, Kenny made him seem insignificant in his, he tried wriggling to make himself seem bigger,  failed, in a huge way, he looked up at Kenny and gave a cough and a quick grin.

"Hopefully the journey is not too long, you know, we arnt  to bad at the rescuing people, after all, how many times have we  boarded   and  escaped from your ships?"

He  stuttered

" umm... not that it is easy to escape from your cells  but that we have certain skills, that...that...I'll  ummm....just shut up now"

He quickly looked down at his tablet only giving a quick glance at Kenny, hoping he didn't take offence.

" It is true we are now facing does with much more advanced technology than the humans we have previously encountered.  Perhaps you might enjoy testing out some improvements to security we make after this?"  Sin asked with a grin.  He finally managed to enjoy not being the only socially awkward engineer among alien beings.

While he wanted to take as little time as possible with the rescue,  he wondered how much help he was going to be. He had already failed his queen once and this new threat might be just as dangerous as it wanted to seem.  Then again, he wasn't going to abandon her or his commander.  He had been ordered to be on this mission by both humans and his superiors and he wasn't going to let them down again if he could help it.

Hearing Jordan's little speech gave Mike a small measure of comfort. That was more than up to his skills, in all respects. "More than glad to." He told her as he gathered his team near the door. "The rest of you find your seats in the back. Make sure you're buckled in tight, I don't think the take off and re-entry is any more comfortable than the old 401." "Doc." He spoke to Rodney, following O'Neil's orders. "There's a dickey seat behind me, Kenny, another behind the gunner." Typically British, some might wonder what on Earth was a 'dickey' seat. While these of course weren't situated on the outside of the ship, they were 'optional' seats provided for observers.

 If there was one single thing that could be said about Rhiase and that, was she had her pride. Right there and then she made up her mind, that if death was to come, the never-ending sleep, she was going face it fighting, like the true warrior she was and just like the leader her people expected her to be. She pulled the filthy blanket around her, pushing herself up, then faced him. “You know me better than I do myself Guide.” It was almost spat venomously. “I, we will survive!” The last said in a hoarse whisper.

 She ate forcefully, the gruel wasn’t fit for pigs, yet it was nourishment of a kind. Soon after that, clothes were shoved through the bars from an adjoining cell. They were for, or from most likely, a human male, though they  fitted her reasonably well. It also gave her a modicum of disguise. Especially with her once long locks now cut almost as short as most of those same human males. It will do.

Jon sat there in the pilot's seat. Tapping a few buttons, he checked the small silver toggle on the side. Jiggled it a bit. Exhaling a bit, he checked the fuel gauge or what was the AC's version of a fuel gauge that looked like one. He muttered under his breath, "Should have just enough fuel for the trip and back."

Clearing his throat, he looked around as more people piled into the flying craft. Just right at the back of the cargo hold, he noted Corbin edging into his place and taking his seat. He appeared nervous enough. Jon couldn't blame him.

Taking a moment of rest, the Captain exhaled a sigh of breath to rid him of his nervous energy. He felt responsible for the number of people boarding this somewhat big AC402. Shaking his head, he rubbed the side of his face and poked his finger into his ear to rid of a certain anxious scratch. Turning around, he noticed his commanding officer about to say something. Refocusing his attention on the screen, he awaited the go-ahead signal.
