{Commodore St. James - TCS Etna}

"Etna acknowledges. We will form up with your other large vessel, I assume that's your carrier. We can prep for launch operations shortly, but I would like to request a situation report if we are going to contribute." Sabine said over comms. "If so desired, I can meet in person."

"...Sol didn't look this quiet since way back in the day. And it's too intact to look like what the Kilrathi would have done if they had won." Her XO commented.

<Galactica>

"Damn me!" Saul spat when he listened to what had been spelled out quite clearly.

Adama looked up at his XO. "What now Saul?"

"Mining. We left the Majahul back after we departed New Caprica or whatever it was we decided to call it. Unless these good people have the capacity for those type of operations we might as well call it a day as we certainly don't have the ability to do it." He adjusted his eyebrow, sweat was making it slip all over his eye.

Thinking on it Adama was about to admit defeat when something came to him. "No Saul I'm going to disagree with you on this. Commader Kollis is right. Derg Summner, the engineer from Majahul is with the civilians we left back at that Station, I know he has at least fifty of his people there. Kollis, make the call we can do this and thank you."

<Galactica>

"Either way I'm glad the Federation is helping out your people. I can have the others ships search for a suitable asteroid. None of our ships are designed for mining operations, but I'm sure we can work something out."

Dax turned to the engineers in her group.
"Is this feasible?"

There was some discussion among the trio before Garzillo spoke up.
"Should be. When we build Starships we pre-load the installed replicators with matter. Same thing when we send them planet-side. From there, they're often integrated into the supply chain and are virtually self sufficient from there. Find a couple of decent asteroids and blast them apart. Would have to borrow a few cargo bays from the Klingons. Should be enough to get them going. Maybe we'll get lucky and find some raw materials inside the asteroid belt."

B'Ellana spoke up as an idea came to her.
"Sirs, if you have any scrap materials laying around we can use them to get you started."

Both plans sounded solid to Jadzia who turned to their hosts.
"That's what we've got. Any questions?"

USS Phalanx

Tom listened to the reply from the Etna. They seemed to take everything in stride which was encouraging. He did pause for a moment to consider how to explain the relationship between the various ships.

"The ships are from various governments but have formed an alliance with each other. Many of the leaders are meeting on the carrier. We will send you their comm frequency."

<Galactica CIC>

That was an easy request. "All our casings are kept for recycling, normally we generally have enough projectiles for each caliber to remake at least five times over so we're never caught short. Our problem was as we advanced further away from our home resupply became a critical issue, leaving us with a very large store of casing but no projectiles to be fitted to them. We have both the explosive charges for each type of round as well and we can give you a sample of each of those rounds you see there to use. I may mention that a live twenty inch main battery round weighs almost three thousand pounds." He looked over at Kollis. "We should do that sooner rather than later. I can have all my technical personnel assemble in the main briefing room if that is suitable?"

(Galactica)

On:

Things were progressing nicely which pleased Jadzia.

"I appreciate the offer Admiral, but I think it best to have a handful of your technicians learn how the machine work. Once they are proficient, they can then train other technicians. Most of our technology is fairly user friendly so it shouldn't be that difficult to learn. I'll let my engineers handle things from here. While a previous host has some mechanical skills, my training is a scientist"

At that cue, Naomi handed the Admiral a Data Padd.
"These are the power requirements for the replicators, of which we are supplying you with two. The replicators are on our shuttle, so if you have someone show us where to go we can help install them. We have antigrav units on them to ease the transport as well as a few spare antigrav sleds. You're welcome to have them if you wish. Once the replicators are hooked up, we can use some of your scrap materials to start training."

USS Phalanx

Having received the information regarding the asteroid, Tom opened a channel to the Klingons. He knew they were itching for some action, so he'd let them get the materials.

"Commander Paris to Klingon vessels. We are in need of several hundred tons of ore. If you could select a suitable asteroid and break it up that would be appreciated. Once you have the fragments in your cargo hold let us know and we'll provide you with further instruction."

{Comm. M'Kat, contact our Engineering Officer, have him to report to the Bridge, I want his input about using our cargo bays for ore retrieval.."

{Bridge:IKV Le'Vek}

{Comms:Lt. M'Kat}"Sir, we have received a priority message from Phalanx!  A clarification of orders!  We are to target several asteroids and break them up into a useable size, for eventual use in replicating needed tech which will aide us in this mission,Sir!"

{Comm. Kurkura}"Acknowledge! Ens. K'TaLa, report to the Bridge!  Comms, engage ships comms. system, I have an announcement for our crew!

{Comms.}"Aye, Sir!
{Ships Comms}
{Comm. Kurkura}"Warriors of the Empire!  We have just received the orders we have been waiting for.  We will do our part.  Our goal is to bring victory to Our Empire, by defeating an unknown enemy.  We have been tasked with selecting and pulverizing asteroids, so that Phalanx, our Federation ally,can then gather and deliver them to an ally that will process the ore and then replicate needed tech and hardware that will aide all of us in returning to our varios realities!  Once this is accomplished and our squadron is complete, We will return to Our Empire and redress wrongs that have been committed!
Kurkura ended his comments and awaited the enevitable reports..of glorious vows and the usual head-butts exchanged between warriors..bouts of song and even the occasional report of an injury, or two, from said 'head-butting'!  He had been observing his crew since they had been whisked away to this place, far from their Empire!  He had heard increasing numbers of almost silent curses, speculations about some Federation trick and some growling complaints about the rations still available, primarily the gahk, which seemed less 'alive' in the last few weeks!  Of course, when plans for these ships were confirmed, he had seen to it that a 'back-up' plan was in place..A system of replicators (federation inspired), but with Klingon foods instead!  Now, his crew would have the sustenance to continue this fight, but..without the 'sour stomach' which always accompanied the use of Feddy food paks! Khel smiled at this last thought!
{Ens. K'TaLa enters the Bridge}
{Comm. Kurkura}"Ens., take secondary gunners chair!
{K'TaLa}"Aye, Sir!
Kukura looked to his Chief Gunner..Sergeant Major Klagg!
"Sergeant Major, Chief Gunner, IKV Le'Vek..I have a challenger for you!
Ens.K'TaLa and you will select random asteroids and test your skills in reducing them to rubble of useable size, for our valiant allies to collect and then transform the ore into useable weapons for Our eventual victory!! Do you accept this challenge?  We are all the same crew, but, Imperial Marines against Imperial Navy..this will be a glorious contest!  And, to the winner, I will award a bottle of my finest Romulan Ale!!  What say you Warriors??

{S.M. Klagg}"I accept this challenge,Sir!

>>From Aegis>>

 It was good to be back in the saddle where she belonged. All this clap trap about who was who and who was a Cylon was behind her now as Starbuck felt that surge from the launch of her Viper. As she left the Aegis she began her transmission. "All flights, standard CAP formation, bring them round boys and girls we have a small fleet to protect. Eyes and ears on."

<Galactica CIC>

"Thank you for the swift work, we do appreciate your assistance greatly. Now as much as I would like to see this in operation I'll have to wait for a more convenient time. Saul take Caprica with you and show our friends down to the cargo loading bays; I think that is our biggest empty space we can afford." The old man had several things on his plate now, getting the Galactica up to a defensive or offensive stance was his top priority.

Saul looked over their guests with his good eye, he wasn't one to openly welcome anyone on 'his' ship but then again the offer of help came in the spirit of cooperation and that was something they needed more then anything else. "Miller, take over the Captain's station. Caprice you're with me." He took the few paces around the CIC table to their new allies. "If you will follow me please."

A young technician no more than twenty years old walked down from his console to side with Caprica. Giving Colonel Tigh a quick salute. "Aye sir."

{Commander Kollis}

"I'm not much of a miner, Admiral, so one thing that crushes rocks into powder looks and operates just the same as any other. However, I do think we need to establish a plan here. There has to be something out here worth investigating, we weren't just told to check here because of the rocks." The Romulan pointed out.

{Commodore St. James - TCS Etna}

"Understood, Phalanx. We'll deploy a small force to firm up your BarCAP. Etna, out." Sabine glanced over to her Comms Officer, who nodded as the data came through.

"Flight Ops, put Griffon and Chimera squadrons up. And have my Rapier prepped just in case." Sabine ordered.

"As ordered, Commodore." The call went out to the two squadrons, originally from the TCS Kestrel's original air wing. Not long after, Griffon's Arrow light fighters and Chimera's Hellcat medium fighters were launched from the Etna's massive launch bay.

<From BS-121 Aegis>

The first group of fighters from the Aegis were the Viper VIICs, since the Strike Vipers weren't quite as needed, less so for the Python bombers or the EW Vipers.

"We doing anything other than this? Sounded like there was more than just rocks out here." Jack commented glibly.

The two Birds-of-Prey had been targeting various Asteroids for several hours.  The IKV Gorkon had requested the chance to compete in the targeting and had been given permission. Onboard the Le'Vek, the betting was setting a furious pace among the crew.  Darseks and bottles of Blood-wine and other items were being bet on both the Chief Gunner and 2nd Gunner.  Khel thought that similar activities were also going on onboard Gorkon!  he smiled at his ploy.  Sitting around with little to do was not the way for warriors.  They needed structure and challenges, a goal and a reason to fight and, if necessary, to die!  Barring any combat that could happen, Khel had devised this plan and knew that it would aide in the overall plans of his warriors and of their various allies, all seeking their homes and seeking Honor!

{Bridge: IKV Le'Vek}
{Lt. Comm. Kurkura}"Comms.:Send my regards to Lt. RoDek, enquire as to his crews moral, since the targeting began and if there are any betting or challenges for the best gunner in the Asteroid challenge we have begun??

{Comms.:Lt. M'Kat}"Aye Sir..Gorkon, this is Le'Vek, the commander sends his regards and asks about the morale of your gallant crew..any betting or challenges being given??

{Bridge:IKV Gorkon}
{Ly.R'oDek,commanding}"Lt. R'oDek to Le'Vek, our earlier discussions are paying off, Sir.  The crew is rallying together and are standing behind Our two best Gunners.  The inactivity that We discussed is behind us and Our crews have purpose again,Sir!  I would suggest a 2nd challenge for our respective crews..Top Gunner from each vessel will have a final challenge as to who is best among our two ships,Sir!..Gorkon, Out!

Khel couldn't be more pleased.  Competition, not confrontation!  The two crews brought out of the lethargy of inactivity by this challenge, bonds and Honors being shared!  Now, his only concern was to see if anything but 'rock-busting' would come of this.  The projected future of his crews and his allies depended upon new tech being developed from any ores found during this time.  But, he also wondered about the unknown and if anything out of the 'norm' might be found!"

{Lt. Comm. Kurkura}"Comms, send my regards to USS Phalanx, advising them that Our task seems to be nearing its end. My Chief Engineer, Lt. K'aBom is monitoring the progress of the break-down of the Asteroids, but he needs a number..the tonnage of material needed, even an educated guess!..Le'Vek,..out!

{Comms.: Lt. M'Kat}"Aye Sir, transmitting request to Phalanx!

(USS Phalanx)

Onboard the ship, Tom Paris took the call from the Klingons. He was aware of their mission, but didn’t know the specifics.

=/\= Stand by Le'Vek, we will get that information to you shortly. =/\=

“Bridge to Engineering. How much ore would be sufficient to start up and run two industrial replicators?”

“Petty Officer Moyle here sir. It depends on how heavy they will be used. If there’s a lack of other raw materials on the ship, 847,000 tons should be more than enough. That will give them plenty of material to get things started and run the replicators for a few months. Of course if they recycle or reuse materials, that will further stretch their lifespan. We could easily get more from the asteroids but you then run into the problem of storing the material.”

“Thank you Moyle. That will be sufficient, I’ll pass it along.”

=/\= Phalanx to Le'Vek, my engineers tell me 847,000 tons is a good amount. If you need us to, we can beam over cargo containers appropriate to hold all the ore. From there, it’s just a matter of transporting the filled containers to a designated location on the Galactica. =/\=

Shortly after Tom finished dealing with the Klingons, their new arrival stated they would be helping to shore up their BARCAP. He was unsure what exactly that meant, but wasn’t going to turn down an offer of help.

=/\= Thanks for the offer Etna, we appreciate your assistance. Phalanx out. =/\=

(BSG Cargo Bay)

The group followed their escort down to the ship’s cargo bays. The engineers in the group looked over the information provided them about the power relays.

“I think this will do nicely. We’ll bring over the replicators, then we can get started.

Naomi and Garzillo headed off towards the launch bay along with Reese and Kerper along as escorts. Jadzia and B'Elanna stayed behind with Saul and Caprica.

Several minutes later, the others reappeared, pushing the replicators on anti-grav sleds. Once they got close to the location, antigrav handles were used to lift the equipment off the sleds and move them into place.

“Our technology is fairly compatible with many power systems, but all the same we’ll let your technicians actually hook up to the power grid.”

They may be dealing with Federation technology, but they weren’t on a Federation ship and B'Elanna wanted to acknowledge that. Plus if they ever needed to move the replicators, it wouldn’t be Starfleet engineers doing the job.

Having received an update from the Phalanx, Jadzia passed it along.
“Our Klingon allies are almost done collecting the ore. Do you wish to stack it here in the same cargo bay?”

Off:

(Industrial Replicator)
