That was true for the remake as well. They sent nukes after the basestars.
Yes we in fact did have armor piercing bullets in the 1980's. And very true that they would have been much more effective than lasers at the time. And probably even now. Of course that would not be scifi enough for tv though.
I had forgotten that they had no FTL in the classic series. I am really going to have to go back and watch those. I did find the 1980 series as well. I am going to check it out.

I see lasers but no nukes lol

now the question is old cylons vs galactic empire?

also not all cylons were robots

I don't know shadowl;ord. I watched that and if I remember correctly Serpentine was a robot.

Yup...that's why I think that Earth's problem in Galactica 1980 wasn't technology....it was the fact that at the time tensions between the USA and the USSR were quite high and thus we had our respective nuclear stockpiles (and other assorted weapons tech) pointed at each other just itching for an excuse to pull the proverbial trigger :-|

Yes they could have used the show to comment on the political climate of the time. It's been done a lot. Sometimes with good intentions , but horrible results.

It's been a few years since I've seen the series (due for a rewatch) but I think I remember Kara and Galen being my favourites. Admiral Adama was always great too.
