Lost Worlds~ Rules and Regulations
« on: May 16, 2013, 10:46:02 AM »

~For all who are playing in the Stargate Role Play PLEASE read the Rules and Regulations before you start.

Rules and Regulations:

1. Even though this is a roleplay, you must adhere to the Lost Worlds Forum Rules.
2. Even though this is covered in the Lost Worlds rules, I will say it again: Please no offensive language. Only those words accepted by LW's filter and that which you know has been used on the shows.
3. Please refrain from using chatspeak. Only fully worded text will be accepted.
4. Please use 'proper' role-play format. When your character is thinking to him/herself please use italics and an apostrophe (') at each end.
5. When your character is talking please use quotation marks (")
6. If you do not know how to rp please do not join and possibly disrupt the other RPers.  Just give one of the Admins PM and we'll explain it to you.
7. Please be kind and courteous to other RP'ers at all times.
8. Please do not RP until you have submitted your character here and it is approved.
9. No controlling other people's characters. You cannot act or speak for other characters at any time.
10. One of the most important rules: Your character canNOT be in two places at once! If you are leaving one area and going to another please post that you are leaving the mess hall and going to the gateroom. (or where ever you are going to/coming from)
11. Do not under any circumstances create new plot divergences from that outlined in OOC. Any force of threats to any faction MUST BE discussed in PM with the Game Masters
12.ALL members wishing to portray one of our enemy such as the Goa'uld or Wraith or any other villain, will be required to as a matter of balance to create a human character within either the SGC/SG1 stories or Atlantis.
13. Ship technology must be submitted to a Moderator of Game GM before posting. Ship sizes are limited to the maximum size of Anubi's Mother ship which was quoted as being 2km * 2km.

Example: My cast Character Dr. Lam will be going to talk to Sam and she will move from the Med Bay to Sam's lab. All speech text is to be coloured. Chose a colour for you character and keep it. More colours can be found here
http://html-color-codes.info/

<Med Bay>-<Sam's Lab>

{Dr. Caroline Lam}- {Colonel Samantha Carter}

Caroline came around the corner in a fluster, something had upset her a few minutes ago and she needed some help, Sam was the only one she could turn to. “Colonel Carter, could you come to the Med Bay with me please.”

"Yes of course Caroline." Sam replied and followed the Doctor out.

Likewise, if you are moving from an area to another, at the end of your post ie:

<To Gate Room>

Radio and Telephone conversations.

If you are on the radio or phone, your post will need to be seen in both areas ie:

Thread 1 Gate room:
{Lt Green}

John was on the phone to Admiral Davidson. “Sir they’ve arrived.”

Thread 2 Commanders Office:

When posting in another thread, only the context of your conversation is added in ‘italics’

“Sir they’ve arrived.”

12. Do not make RP threads, it is not an official RP thread unless a Admin is the creator, or it has been approved the person could make it.
13. Make sure of the time line, we cannot have a character appear somewhere in seconds if it takes hours or even days to get to that location. We'll try to as often as we can, post a time/date stamp on each thread
14. All characters must carry a signature pic. That can either be your main signature or an additional one measuring 300*110 pixels
Lastly, if you're not sure please ask questions, either in the Role Play OOC or by PM to one of the Admins

Using NPC Characters

NPC characters (a non player character) are used quite often to fill in gaps. They can be created on the spur of the moment, or planned perhaps as you future OC (original character).

For this reason, you won't be asked to provide a character sheet (bio), but it is good practice for you if, you can on introducing your character, give a brief description of him or her with their entry into the game.

Rules applying to NPC's, otherwise are identical to OC's. For the exception of what we call cannon fodder NPC's. Those are the ones we wish to be sacrificed in game for the sake of reality. (Someone has to die after all)

***********
Playing NPC's is quite simple. As with OC's that haven't as yet had a signature pic created, when writing for NPC's you will begin your post with the following. All NPC's are played with their speech dialogue in any shade of red, including brown. If you have in mind to upgrade your character, you can use another colour; preferably a dark shade. We realise there are not enough colours on the palette, so you can easily copy and paste the codes from here http://html-color-codes.info/

(Location tag if applicable)

<Planet X, Stargate>

(Character tag)

{Lt Fred Bloggs USAF} NPC

It was a starlit night, Fred, a smallish kind of guy, who hailed from LA, wondered aimlessly around, looking for his team. A dust storm had turned him around several times and his bright red hair stood on end, his pale face covered in sand. Finally he stumbled up against the DHD and swore. "I'm a damned clerk, I have no idea why I am even here!"

***********

Lastly and this needs to be said again. Under no circumstances can you control another persons character unless you have that persons permission and you have worked out exactly what each of you wish to do.

Airman 20

Airman 1st Class 22

Senior Airman/ Sergeant 25

Staff Sergeant 31

Technical Sergeant 36

Master Sergeant 38

Senior Master Sergeant 41

Chief Master Sergeant 44

Average Age by Grade: (Officer)

2nd Lieutenant: Around 23

1st Lieutenant: Around 26

Captain: Around 31

Major: Around 32

Lieutenant Colonel: Around 36

Colonel: Around 38-43 at promotion. A note on this rank (Which applies to Naval Captains) Quite often a person may be promoted on a trial basis at the younger end of the spectrum (38) pending review. In this case it is a Command position generally for ships. Forward Air bases in the case of the air force.

Brigadier General: Around 48

From then onwards add an average of 3-4 years per rank

So in other words, you will never see a 23 year old Colonel!

                         ***Officer ranks will be considered based on the individuals role play experience***
