2018 Holiday Special
« on: November 16, 2018, 02:16:24 PM »

Despite the proximity to the holidays, the SGC was still quite busy, but not entirely for the same reasons. Personnel were passing through from off-world sites on their way to leave.

Ian had dropped by the Mess Hall to refill his thermos mug when he saw Lieutenant McMillan in her NWUs wearing fuzzy antlers and a foam red ball over her nose, humming a Christmas theme as she hung up another line of lights.

"Lights are looking good Lieutenant." Ian commented as he added creamer and sugar to the mug. The ONI officer smiled brightly.

"Thank you sir." She replied. As she continued, an SF entered and approached him.

"Sir. You have a visitor." The SF said.

"Thanks, Sergeant. Keep up the good work, Lieutenant." Ian stirred his coffee and headed for the elevator.

Once he got there, he saw it wasn't "a visitor", it was the same visitor he had this morning. Martin Loyd, an alien human who now was the mind behind the sci-fi television series "Wormhole X-Treme", had stopped by asking about "inspiration" and Ian brushed him off.

"Oh, Admiral, hello, again." Martin said.

"Mister Loyd, I believe I asked you to come back after New Years." Ian said as he rounded his desk to sit down.

"Well, uh, see, about that...there's a blizzard. The road into town is closed." Martin pointed out.

"...what?" Ian asked, and turned on the TV.

"...and State Highway 115 are all being closed for the time being. Now, I should point out that this is probably the worst storm to hit the city in decades, and is quite unusual for December.." The local weatherman pointed out before Ian muted the TV.

"So. I guess in that case..." Martin said with a smile.

"...alright, fine." Ian let out a sigh. He then picked up the phone.

"Walter. Go ahead and start grabbing people and have them come up to the briefing room." Ian said.

Down in the gate room, the last arrivals were coming in from Atlantis, including Colonel Sheppard and Lieutenant Hanley.

"...and they've been on a roll so far during the preseason. Meanwhile, your team is barely hanging on." Sheppard said, hefting his duffel bag over his shoulder, wearing his nice suit, which was also quite simple with a white shirt, black jacket and slacks and a black tie.

"Says you, sir. So what, we had a few bumps along the way..." Michelle replied, shifting her own duffel bag. She was in her service khaki uniform, with her garrison cap tucked into her belt.

"You guys lost to Detroit. 45 to 10. To Detroit." Sheppard emphasized.

"Semantics. Tonight's game is going to pick us up after we lost to New England, and it's against Buffalo. You guys just have to beat Seattle. Pfft." Michelle replied with a mock eye roll.

"Yeah, I..." An SF stopped them and handed off a folded up note to Sheppard. He unfolded it.

"Sir, there's a blizzard that has the roads closed." The SF pointed out.

Sorry, bud. You're taking this one.
-Cam

"Uh...what?" Sheppard asked, and glanced up to the control room window, and then to the briefing room. And he saw Martin Loyd, waving emphatically to everyone arriving.

"...oh gee, thanks Mitchell. C'mon, Lieutenant." Sheppard said, leading the way up to the briefing room.

The elevator doors opened down the hallway, two women stepped out giving Siler something of a shock. He was seeing double! He took of his glasses, wiped them clean, put them back on again to stare hard at them. While one was sporting dark long hair, the other a blonde reddish hue, the faces were the same as if cast from identical molds. He did notice the blonde being about an inch taller and if anything she could have been a little younger; but....the same. "Erm, ah, Commander MacGregor?" He said with a curious question hanging.

"Hi Siler, yeah its me." The blonde answered sweetly. "This is my friend Sydney, we go way back I guess you could say. Syd, this is Master Sergeant Siler our chief wrench around here."

"Hello Siler, nice to meet you at last. Cate has told me a lot about you."

That did it for the old guy. The voices were identical, except one tiny aspect, one was Aussie, the other American. "Well you two threw me there. Nice to meet you Sydney. I think it finally clicked, well your last name. You work with Malcolm Barret don't you?"

"Ssshhhhh...we're not allowed to talk about that." Cate told him with a wink. "So okay, where are we supposed to go? I got a text from Walter but it never finished as we went through some lightning on the way here."

"Briefing room Cate oh and I saw your Mum on the way here. She said she'd be up later on. I'd better get going, the Admiral wants me to dust off our old tree and set it up. See you soon." He stepped aside to let them pass then entered the elevator himself.

"Nice guy." Syd said cheerfully as the two walked off in stride.

"One of the best. You know Syd, this is going to be a blast. Only the Admiral and General O'Neill know who you are, oh and Mum of course, do you....?" She left it open.

"Want to go in first as you?"

They both laughed together, that was identical.

A few moments later the dark haired version stepped into the briefing room, well briefed on who everyone was, basically it was a part of her job to know every face that graced the SGC files and committed to memory. Cate waited out of sight near Ian's office.

"Sorry I'm late Admiral, you know hair dressers and their timing." She grinned throwing one dark strand back off her face. The fake Aussie accent was spot on. "Martin! Haven't seen you around for ages. How are you doing mate?" Her eyes then moved to Stephanie, she knew she was working with Cate's brother but she also knew neither of them had met. "G'day, I'm Ben's sister." The smile never left her face.

SGC Recreation Room

While missions at the SGC were reduced during the holidays, they weren’t completely suspended. As such William had agreed to remain at the base to help cover the infirmary. In exchange he would get time off in late January. With the serious cases usually treated at the hospital at the Academy, and most others discharged for the holidays, there wasn’t much happening. Captain Lambe was currently in the infirmary and promised to call William if there was need for his services.

William was in the middle of a chess game with Warrant Officer Stewart, while a few others watched a Christmas movie on the other side of the room. Becoming aware of the presence of a third person, both of them looked up to see Walter standing near the table.

“Afternoon Chief, care for the next game?”

William asked.

“Maybe another time Lieutenant, both of you are wanted in the briefing room. Admiral McRaven’s orders.”

Glancing back at the board, Amelia was sure the game wouldn’t be quickly over despite her having a few more pieces than William.
“Guess victory will have to wait.”

Standing up, William responded to her comment.
“Yeah, for me. Let’s go see what the Admiral wants, maybe it will be quick and we can resume our game.”

Briefing Room

As Walter left, presumably to round up others, William and Amelia made their way to the briefing room. Entering the room, the Airman noticed several things right off the bat. The Admiral obviously was present, as was Colonel Shepard. Someone who looked like his XO, but with dark hair was also present. Apparently she dyed her hair since he last saw the Commander. While he didn’t know why Martin was part of the group, he was confident all would be explained. A few of the others were unfamiliar, but he was sure introductions would be made at the appropriate time.

After making the appropriate greetings to all present, the two new arrivals took their seats.

Tilly was listening to the song in her headphones when a few rapid knocks tapped the door into her room. Taking her ear phones out, she paused the music and ran toward the door. Opening it, she noted one of the SFs handing her a note while speaking, "Ma'am. Note from Walter. Something about a briefing room he thought you should attend."

"Uhh," Tilly murmured while reading the note. She responded slightly confused, "Thanks airman."

She closed the door in his face and turned around while reading the note. Laying her back against the door, she pondered a bit to herself curious as to what's going on. She heard about the snow blocking the access out of the base. The sergeant did pick a few things over the radio. Tilly murmured while crumpling the paper, "Might as well check it out. Ohh, better get into my regular gear." She sighed looking at the mirror next to her. She wore her shirt with the reindeer jumping around the Christmas tree covered with snow along with the antler headband holding her hair back.

Covering her face, she exhaled feeling embarrassed for the airman seeing her out of her element with the seasons coming up. Taking a few moments of breath, she got dressed for the briefing.

Moments later, which didn't take long as all Tilly had to multitask to quickly braid her hair while dressing into her regular camo security uniform to look professional in the briefing room. Approaching the door, she opened it to enter through the doorway to see the others in the room. Being only in the SGC for a few months, it would be Tilly's chance to get to know people. Taking her seat, she waited patiently for the briefing to start.

"I would be inclined to believe such a ruse, were it not for the fact that Cate McGreggor does not smile nearly that much. Work on your fieldcraft, Agent Bristow." Ian said casually, perhaps a bit too readily noticing things.

"Okay, I'll make this real simple. Mister Loyd here..."

"Oh, you can just call me Marty. Mister Loyd was my father." Martin interrupted with a smile.

"Aren't you an alien and isn't Martin Loyd just a cover name?" Sheppard asked.

"...anyways. Mister Loyd here is here as our guest. A few years back, he tapped SG-1 to provide inspiration for Season 4 of Wormhole X-Treme, a program I don't watch. He's looking to do a Holiday Special, complete with a crossover, Wormhole X-Treme: Antillia, and since there is a blizzard, no one can leave the base and I'm roping you all in to help him finish this." Ian explained, "In exchange, I've made sure that your leaves will be appropriately reset to make up for any time lost, and also handle compensation for any disruption of travel and accommodations. The IOA was feeling generous. There is, of course, a party in the Mess Hall that you are free and welcome to enjoy during breaks."

"Sir, will that party also have the game playing?" Michelle asked.

"I'll see what we can do. Who are you following?"

"Denver."

"San Francisco." Sheppard said at the same time.

"I'll get both going, then. I'll be in my office, explaining to my wife why I'm missing Christmas Eve dinner."

With that, Ian disappeared into his office.

"So. Yeah, don't be shy, there are no bad ideas. This is just the roughing phase." Marty said with a smile.

"...ugh. We're going to be here a minute. I'm going to go change." Michelle stood up and excused herself to the restroom.

"We need to start with a plot. So, let's hear what you guys have, but remember, it's for a Holiday Special." Marty explained, "Anyone can start."

"Point noted Admiral." Sydney told him with just a very slight degree of humor on her face as she twisted around before taking a seat. "Cate, the jig is up, we've been duly sprung."

"Right then since we've been outed, I'm Sydney Bristow for those who haven't met me previously and please don't ask the obvious question I beg of you." At last count both her and Cate had to brush aside near a thousand queries as to whether they were twins or even related. "It's just one of those quirks of human genes I suppose. Oh and I'm the SGC's CIA liaison officer I should add."

A moment or two later Cate strolled in with a fake frown of disappointment on her face. "Seasons greetings everyone." She said in the spirit of the occasion. "Marty you could have timed it better mate really. I mean all this snow, we didn't need you to bring that with you." Sitting next to Sydney, Cate pulled the collar of her winter service bomber jacket close as if it were just as cold inside as it was outside. "Admiral." she nodded to him, then John and Michelle. Leaning close to William on her other side she asked. "Have you seen Lena or Flynn? I thought they'd be running to be here? Hi.." She said to the Brit girl.

While Cate was getting herself in order Sydney had a thought or two on Martin's plot. "Antillia? As in Atlantis as we know it then? Well now, I think this one is quite easy really. What if say a call went out that on the night before Christmas Santa went missing and the SGC received a ransom note from Antillia saying that he will be released but only if Earth gives up it's Stargate, or face utter distruction. We learn that the Antillia base has been taken over by a mind virus, or something like that. It was signed by someone calling themselves Dark Helmet." Kind of wacko really, as she knew therein lay a previous mission release from the SG1 files of years ago. "I'm just spinning you know." Her look was of blank innocence, she had read the files on Martin several times.

Cate face palmed herself. Not because Syd's idea wasn't a good one and it might be hilarious to boot, but simply because in the years she had known the woman she had never really taken her for someone to do anything unless it was deadly serious.

Major Fred Rivers

Fred bound up the stairs to the briefing room, he wore his standard affair Black boots DPM trousers, leg holster pistol belt and green SG-12 hoodie, plus his standard messy hair and UKSF Special Dispensation Beard. He stopped and frowned at the two identical looking women. But chose not to say anything, for all he knew it was one of Cate's cousins, so much of her family was involved in the SGC he wouldn't be surprised, or some kind of mimic devise that was also possible. He looked to the Admiral just as he went to his office and then turned to see who else was there.
"Colonel." He said nodding to Sheppard.
"Whats going on?" He looked to the woman next to him and had forgotten her name, and struggled with the rank so just gave her a polite nod and said.
"Alright." In greeting. Before nodding to the Security Sergeant, SG-4 XO and her doppleganger and lastly the Security Sergeant. He then noticed the other person in the room not in a uniform and recognized him and remembered how annoying he could be.
"Bugger." He sighed under his breath before addressing the visitor louder.
"Mr Loyd. Nice to see you again" He said with another nod. He had bumped in to Martin Loyd once When he was here about a movie, but he had read the files and been warned by O'Neill how... interesting the none earth born human was. He then noticed the uniform in the room he recognised. You wernt in the SBS with out learning the Navy ranks so he nodded to the woman in the chair. He felt he better introduce himself. Mostly incase she had heard the horror stories the Navy liked to tell about the Army.
"Warrant Officer. Nice to meet you. Major Fred Rivers SG twelve." Once he was done checking who was in the room he looked back to Sheppard, hoping there was a off world mission in his future to spice up his boring Christmas with out his team and friends.

"...uh..." Sheppard said, not really sounding like he was convinced.

Interior: Atlantis

Sheppard and Michelle ran down the corridor towards the control room, ducking stunner fire. Sheppard had Ronon's Particle Magnum, set to stun, while Michelle had an HK416 loaded with Intar rounds. They ducked around the nearest corner.

"I really did not call that one." Michelle said, flipping the spent magazine out of her rifle and slapping in a fresh one.

"We're going to need to get to the control room to send out an SOS. But yeah, who'd have thought. But also...really...Dark Helmet was..."

A group of Marines began to advance with a man in a large black helmet. The face shield came up revealing...

"Rodney. I know, right?" Michelle asked.

"There is no point in resisting! We have Santa, we have your Expedition, and we will have you!" Dark Helmet/McKay said in a voice like a Goa'uld used...

Scene End

"I don't love it." Michelle said, rejoining the group, now in blue jeans, a black T-shirt with a rather humorous graphic, and a brown leather jacket that she hung over the back of her chair.

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

"Care to explain?" Marty asked.

"Okay, if you do it like that, it makes your spinoff cast look bad because now they're the damsel in distress and playing second fiddle to the main cast." Michelle replied.

"Yeah. I can see that. And that's just not realistic, that'd be like saying SG-1 or my team has to bail everyone else out of trouble." Sheppard added. "What about if Dark Helmet had his own base or ship. Y'know, something evil looking. Maybe sharp, with...lava?"

"What, like Mustafar?"

"That's your limit, Lieutenant." Sheppard said.

The twins were shaking their almost identical heads, not because they thought it was a bad idea no? It was rather good, but it did leave out a few details that could be easily expanded on. Perhaps.

 "Well there is..." Cate began

SGC Gateroom:

Sam was wandering back and forth in front of no less than six teams, starting from SG1, 4, 9, 14, 18 and lastly the boy scout pack SG20 (because none of them even looked like they shaved as yet). The newly minted General was giving them the lowdown even if she still had the elves hat on from the staff Christmas party held earlier in the day. (They were all in fact pulling their bon bons when the call came.

"Right people I won't mess around with this. Some crud calling himself Dark Helmet is holding Atlantis to ransom. Colonel Sheppard has managed to secure the gate room and the immediate area but we fear he is losing fast. Your mission is to get in, find this creep and release the city. By the way he is also holding Santa and you know what that means. We have less than 12 hours to get him back. Dial it up Walter!"

"Did she say crud?" Cate asked another team member.

"Yeah, she must be angry eh?"

  Atlantis Gateroom:

As the teams bundled through the Atlantis gate they were thrown back by a force field landing flat on their backsides. A hideous laughter burst out as they looked up the stair case to see the entire base had been reduced to about 2 foot tall parodies of Santa's elves with Dark Helmet holding what appeared to be a cattle prod at Santa's head. Little Rodney was running around in circles repeating over and over "I told you so."

"Well if it isn't the famooous SGeeee teams! Mwhahahahahhaha! What are you going to do now?" He taunted them.

"I know that voice." Cate said whispering to her mates. "It's bloody Ford, I knew he was bent on revenge!"

"So what are we going to do Miss smarty pants?" Said Sydney.

"Erm.. I got nothing." Cate replied as the Earth team to began to shrink in size....

scene end:

"You're kidding right?" Sydney looked from Cate to Marty and everyone else. "Hand's those who would like to dress Cate up as a Christmas elf?"
